Ecological networks: a window on our changing planet

26 November 2024 to 27 November 2024
Cappella Guinigi, San Francesco Complex

Ecological networks provide a compact representation of species interactions. As such they are a powerful tool for understanding the Earth ecosystems, how they have assembled in the past, and how they might change in future.

The aim of the present workshop is to bring together researchers working on different aspects of ecological network research, from the field-sampling of ecological data, to statistical inference methods for network reconstruction, to models of network stability and critical transitions.
Through this workshop, we hope to favour the integration of data-driven and model-driven approaches to the study of ecological networks, and to further develop and refine those tools that allow understanding, predicting, and reversing the changes that happen in ecosystems from the local to the global scale.

The Workshop "Ecologial Networks: a window on our changing planet" is a scientific discussion and training event organized by IMT School for Advances Studies Lucca with the support from the European Union – Horizon 2020 Programme under the scheme “INFRAIA-01-2018-2019 – Integrating Activities for Advanced Communities”, Grant Agreement n.871042, “SoBigData++: European Integrated Infrastructure for Social Mining and Big Data Analytics”. We also acknowledge support from the Royal Society, International Exchanges Grant IES\R3\233390 as part of which the travel of some participants could be covered.
