The IMT School invites applications for a Research Collaborator with a strong interest in linguistics, semantic analysis, and dreaming. The ideal candidate should possess: i) at least three years of experience in research in the academic field, preferably in areas related to the topics of the present position; ii) experience with the administration and analysis of questionnaires and/or scales; iii) experience with the collection and analysis of oral and/or written reports through natural language processing methods. High proficiency (C2) with the Italian language is required as all the collected and analyzed data will be in this language. Good information technology skills and programming skills represent a plus.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to data collection and analysis for projects to investigate the psychological, cognitive, and functional bases of dreaming. In particular, the candidate is expected to: i) perform the recruitment and screening of volunteers by administering and processing standardized questionnaires; ii) participate in the collection, processing, and analysis of oral reports describing subjective experiences occurred during wakefulness and/or sleep; iii) contribute to the extraction of quantitative variables from collected data by means of manual and automated linguistic methods. The candidate will be part of the MoMiLab Research Unit, the Cognitive Neuroscience community of the IMT School, and will work under the supervision of Prof. Giulio Bernardi. National and international collaborations will integrate the research team.
- Master's Degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics or related fields, or equivalent qualification obtained abroad (preferably obtained in the last six years);
- At least three years of experience in research in the academic field (preferably in areas related to the topics of the present position);
- Experience with the collection and linguistic analysis of oral and/or written reports;
- High proficiency (C2) with the Italian language;
- Good knowledge of both written and spoken English.
- Experience with the administration and analysis of questionnaires and scales;
- Experience with the use of dictionary-based and distributional semantics methods for the analysis of textual data;
- Sufficient information technology skills and programming skills (experience with MATLAB is preferred);
- Ability to work in a team.
