IMT School invites applications for a research collaborator position in accessible game design. IMT School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic research collaborator to join its research activity in the context of the Game in Lab 2022 project "Increasing Accessibility of Online Board Games to Blind and Visually Impaired People via Machine Learning". The objective of the project is to design accessible solutions for playing board games based on translating visual inputs into a sound language.
The candidate must have a cross-disciplinary research attitude, integrating knowledge in cognitive neuroscience (with special focus on blind or visually impaired people), language processing and basic level computer programming skills. Prior experience in the study of the literature on accessible game design for blind and/or visually impaired people will be considered as a plus.

Activity
The research collaboratot will be involved in the protocol design, data collection and analysis, writing and dissemination of the project reports. More specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for co-designing (in joint collaboration with the principal investigator and the other members of the project) an accessible game interface for a specific board game (Quantik) by applying machine learning and sonification methods; collecting/analyzing data related to the use of such interface.
Formal requirements
- Master Degree in Linguistics, Neuroscience, Psychology, or other fields related to the topic of the research;
- a good knowledge of written and spoken english.
Specific requirements
- the candidate must have a professional background to work in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team;
- preferrable but not necessary is a specialization in cognitive neuroscience, with special focus on blind or visually impaired people and on language processing.
